Submetering

I Overview
Submetering allows for individual natural gas metering of users within a multi-unit building.

II Applications
By providing information to or billing individual users for their gas usage, submetering can encourage energy conservation.

III Equipment Options
Submeters are typically installed in one of three ways:
1. Bank of meters at the point of entry of the gas service with individual lines running to each unit.
2. Common meter closets in different locations or floors of a building. Multiple meters are banked together, and individual fuel lines run to respective units from each closet.
3. Meters installed at the point of entry to each unit. A large, single trunk line runs through the structure and small lines branch off to the individual units.
