Rethinking Rethinking
Today’s natural gas industry delivers space and water heating, feedstock for chemical manufacturing and fertilizers, fuel for electricity generation and vehicles, and provides many other services to consumers throughout the U.S. economy. Natural gas contributes to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, complements the intermittency of renewable electricity generation, fuels the fires of industrial production, adds value to our national economy, and is produced right here at home.
Promise Promise
The Promise of Natural Gas sets out a vision that points to a decade or more of relative market stability projected for this domestic, abundant fuel—and what that potential means for our nation and energy consumers.
To formalize and support the close interagency coordination that is required to accelerate greater investment in industrial energy efficiency and CHP, this order directs certain executive departments and agencies to convene national and regional stakeholders to identify, develop, and encourage the adoption of investment models and State best practice policies for industrial energy efficiency and CHP.​
In cities and towns throughout the country, natural gas utilities are working with their local governments to find cost-effective ways to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of clean natural gas.
Investment in plants and people drives a stampede toward growth.
