was formed as result of the Brooklyn Union / Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO)
merger in 1998.
KeySpan Corporation,

Energy Delivery, name to customers in New York City, on Long Island,
and in New England. On November 8, 2000 KeySpan acquired Eastern
Enterprises, Eastern's natural gas distribution subsidiaries including
Boston Gas Company, Colonial Gas Company and Essex Gas Company;
Eastern's unregulated businesses including ServicEdge Partners,
the largest unregulated provider of residential HVAC equipment installation
and services in Massachusetts; and EnergyNorth in New Hampshire.
With the completion of the Eastern transaction, KeySpan is the largest
gas distributor in the Northeast with approximately 2.4 million
customers.
KeySpan owns
and operates more than 6,000 MW of electric power generation on
Long Island and in New York City, and provides management of the
electric transmission and distribution (T&D) system, and customer
services, to the Long Island Power Authority's 1.1 million customers.
The business units of KeySpan Services market energy and provide
energy facility design, construction, financing and management,
and energy equipment installation and repair. KeySpan also has investments
in gas exploration and development, primarily through The Houston
Exploration Company [NYSE: THX]; domestic pipelines and storage;
and international activities, including gas processing in Canada,
and gas pipelines and local distribution in Northern Ireland.
KeySpan Energy
Delivery includes the natural gas business formerly known as Brooklyn
Union, the fifth largest gas utility in the United States. KeySpan
Energy Delivery provides natural gas service to more than 2.5 million
customers in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and
Staten Island, in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island and
in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
