Corporation is the new company formed from the merger of Unicom and PECO Energy.
Exelon has an electric and natural gas distribution customer base of approximately
5 million and is the largest nuclear operator in the United States with more than
16,500 megawatts of nuclear capacity.
Exelon's
corporate headquarters will be in Chicago, with generation and power
marketing headquarters in the Philadelphia region. ComEd and PECO
Energy distribution operations will continue to maintain their headquarters
in Chicago and Philadelphia, respectively.
PECO
Energy Company (NYSE: PE) owns and/or operates 9,261 megawatts of
electric generating capacity with a diverse generating portfolio
consisting of nuclear, hydro, coal, oil, natural gas and landfill
gas. The utility supplies electric service to 1.5 million and natural
gas to 420,000 customers across southeastern Pennsylvania. AmerGen,
the partnership between PECO Energy and British Energy, has acquired
Clinton Nuclear Power Station in Decatur, Illinois and Unit Two
of Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania. It also has agreements to
acquire additional units at Oyster Creek in New Jersey; Nine Mile
Point in New York; and Vermont Yankee.
Incorporated
in 1994 and based in Chicago, Unicom Corporation (NYSE: UCM) is
a public company dedicated to meeting the energy needs of residential,
commercial, industrial and wholesale customers. With approximately
15,000 employees and nearly $7 billion in annual revenues, Unicom
Corporation is the parent holding company to Commonwealth Edison
Company (ComEd), its principal subsidiary. ComEd was incorporated
in 1887. Engaged principally in the production, purchase, transmission,
distribution and sale of electricity to retail and wholesale customers,
ComEd serves more than 3.4 million customers across Northern Illinois,
