| Enbridge
operates, in Canada and the U.S., the world's longest crude oil and liquids pipeline
system. The company owns and operates Enbridge Pipelines Inc. and a variety of
affiliated pipelines in Canada, and has a 14.5 per cent interest in the Enbridge
Energy Partners, L.P. system in the U.S. Together, these pipeline systems have
operated for over 50 years and now comprise approximately 15,000 kilometres of
pipeline, delivering more than 2 million barrels per day of crude oil and liquids.
Enbridge
is also involved in liquids marketing and international energy projects
and has a growing involvement in the natural gas transmission and
midstream businesses, through the Alliance and Vector pipelines
and through its investment in AltaGas Services. The company also
owns Enbridge Midcoast Energy, Inc. of Houston, a company that transports,
gathers, processes and markets natural gas and other petroleum products.
As
a distributor of energy, Enbridge owns and operates Canada's largest
natural gas distribution company, Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc.,
which has provided gas to industrial, commercial and residential
customers in Ontario, Quebec and New York State for over 150 years.
Enbridge distributes gas to 1.5 million customers, is developing
a gas distribution network in New Brunswick and is also involved
in the distribution of electricity.
The
company employs approximately 6,000 people, primarily in Canada,
the U.S. and South America. Enbridge common shares trade on the
Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada under the symbol "ENB"
and on the NASDAQ National Market in the U.S. under the symbol "ENBR".
