Alagasco has been providing reliable natural gas service in Alabama for 150 years. Our roots can be traced back to 1852 when the Montgomery City Council passed an ordinance that allowed the Montgomery Gas Light Company to provide gas lighting for the city.

Today, we're the largest natural gas distributor in the state. We serve an average of 463,000 customers in nearly 200 Alabama cities, towns and communities. We have more than 1,000 employees at work in our seven operating divisions – Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Montgomery, Opelika, Selma and Tuscaloosa – and smaller district offices in the surrounding areas.
