Known throughout the world, Herty is a nonprofit, independent, contractual
R&D organization. Our mission is to conduct a broad range of lab
tests , pilot scale investigations, and limited production of all
fibrous materials. Herty is structured to serve corporations as a
contractual lab for development trials, exploratory R&D programs,
quality control studies, and specialized product production runs.
Just as it has been for more than 60 years, Herty's strength, thus
its industry niche, is to provide quality, flexible responses, and
rapid answers to product and process development problems in a pilot
plant setting that protects and ensures the confidentiality of the
work being done.

Western Michigan University
Pilot Paper Plant
Use the paper pilot plant
facilities for bench testing or run a full production simulation using
the pilot paper machine. The WMU paper pilot plant includes a Fourdrinier
paper machine, fully equipped recycle center, an aqueous pilot coater
(blade, rod and air knife), and a Cylindrical Laboratory Coater (CLC).
WMU can also provide complete fiber-classification, handsheet studies
and, once the paper is made, all the standard physical and optical
tests.
