MARSDEN, Inc. sells, designs, manufactures and services Gas Infrared Drying Systems for a variety of industrial applications. Incorporated in 1976, MARSDEN, Inc. has installed hundreds of its systems around the world.

Marsden Gas IR Drying Systems are primarily sold to the paper and paper converting industry for mass, incremental and moisture profiling drying purposes. Other markets serviced include the textile, glass, paint finishing and non-woven industries. These systems have been installed in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Finland, The United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

A privately held company, MARSDEN, Inc. is headquartered in Pennsauken, New Jersey, USA. The unique infrared emitter incorporated into every system was the creation of MARSDEN's founder, Mr. Thomas M. Smith. Continuous research and development has resulted in over 50 U.S. and foreign patents to date.

MARSDEN's commitment to quality is evidenced in the registration to ISO 9001 in 1996 and the ability to affix the CE Mark to its family of products.

AIRSEAL SYSTEM

Continuous radiant emitters are supplied in one-row, two-row or three-row frames. Machine-direction radiant dimensions of 11" (280 mm) with a maximum CD dimension of 225" (5700 mm) per row allow for uniform heating across the entire substrate.

Each row can be independently modulated in output from 22%-100% to maintain sheet temperature setpoints to within +/- 5ºF. Both manual and automatic control is available.

Each drying frame can be equipped with an air delivery system that promotes evaporation while evacuating the moisture and combustion products from the work area.

Individual rows can be zoned to accommodate varying sheet widths.

MODULAR IR SYSTEM

Individual modular emitters with radiant machine-direction dimensions up to 31.5" MD x 12" CD (800 mm x 300 mm) allow for the maximum power output in the most compact space.

Modular drying frames are available in 31.5", 29.5", 24", 16" & 12" radiant machine-direction sizes to most accurately meet specific application space and heat transfer requirements. Radiant cross machine-direction dimensions are attained in excess of 300" (7600 mm).

MOISTURE PROFILING SYSTEM

To correct cross-machine moisture profile variability, the Modular IR System can be designed with CD zones to as narrow as 1". Each individual zone can be automatically modulated from 22%-100%. Each zone is modulated on ratio to maintain fuel efficiency.

Moisture profiling frames are available in 31.5", 29.5", 24", 16" & 12" radiant machine-direction sizes to most accurately meet specific application space and heat transfer requirements. Radiant cross machine-direction dimensions are attained in excess of 300" (7600 mm).

Each drying frame can be equipped with an air delivery system that promotes evaporation while evacuating the moisture and combustion products from the work area.

Profiling systems can be interfaced with coat weight control systems and a variety of DCS control systems to accurately correct CD web moisture variability.

Safety

The MARSDEN Gas IR System is the only IR system, gas or electric that reverts to a cool, safe shutdown in ONE SECOND.

The system meets or exceeds safety regulations established by Factory Mutual (FM), Industrial Risk Insurance (IRI) as well as local safety codes. Systems shipped to the European Union are affixed with the CE Mark due to compliance to established Harmonized Standards.

Performance

  • 5 SECOND HEAT-UP
  • 1 SECOND COOL DOWN
  • INSTANTANEOUS TEMPERATURE MODULATION
  • ZERO POLLUTING EMISSIONS
  • MOISTURE EVAPORATION RATE OF 30+LBS/FT2/HR
  • INFRARED HEAT TRANSFER OF 36,000 BTU/FT2/HR TO SUBSTRATE
