At ZTEK Corporation, we are dedicated to developing and commercializing the world's cleanest fossil-fuel-to-electrical-energy conversion devices. Founded in 1984, ZTEK's purpose is the commercialization of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), which generate electricity cleanly via electrochemical reactions. ZTEK has greatly advanced the research and development on SOFC's initiated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Lincoln Lab in the 1970's. Our proprietary technology represents a giant leap forward in economical, environmentally friendly power production.

ZTEK Corporation is a privately held Massachusetts corporation with business offices in Waltham and Woburn. The company is engaged in the business of developing, manufacturing, selling and servicing of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) based energy systems. ZTEK has successfully demonstrated a 1-kW fuel cell stack, logging in over 15,000 hours of operation, and currently has a 25kW system utilizing natural gas as a fuel stock. This unit is currently located in Woburn and is in operation addressing balance-of-plant component reliability issues.

ZTEK will initially focus on the distributed electricity market with 200kW modules, which are easily scalable to half megawatt and megawatt versions.

At the heart of ZTEK's fuel cell technology lies yttrium stabilized zirconia, a solid oxide ceramic that at high temperature (1000¡C) serves as the electrolyte by conducting charged oxygen ions (O=).
ZTEK is developing two efficient products for introduction to the marketplace.

The first product, an integrated solid oxide fuel cell and gas turbine (SOFC-GT),consumes half as much fuel to generate the same amount of electricity as conventional fossil fuel combustion technologies.

Another ZTEK product, the patented EHVACª system, uses a solid oxide fuel cell system mated to a double effect absorption chiller to efficiently produce Electricity, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
