- SOFC
At ZTEK Corporation, we are
dedicated to developing and commercializing the world's cleanest fossil-fuel-to-electrical-energy
conversion devices. Founded in 1984, ZTEK's purpose is the commercialization
of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), which generate electricity cleanly via
electrochemical reactions. ZTEK has greatly advanced the research and
development on SOFC's initiated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's
Lincoln Lab in the 1970's. Our proprietary technology represents a giant
leap forward in economical, environmentally friendly power production.
ZTEK will initially focus on the distributed electricity market with 200kW modules, which are easily scalable to half megawatt and megawatt versions. At the heart of
ZTEK's fuel cell technology lies yttrium stabilized zirconia, a solid
oxide ceramic that at high temperature (1000¡C) serves as the electrolyte
by conducting charged oxygen ions (O=).
