Hydrogenics, based in Woodbridge, Ontario, has been in business since 1995, making fuel-cell components. It's developing its own fuel cells for the transportation and power-generation markets. The company warns investors that the market for fuel cells is just being created.

Hydrogenics develops and manufactures integrated PEM fuel cell systems. We are executing a plan that takes products along an evolutionary path, selling first to the premium power markets and fuel cell R&D markets that exist today, and eventually to broader marketing as fuel cells overcome cost and infrastructure issues.

Hydrogenics HyUPS(TM) fuel cell power generator is a stationary power product developed to meet critical backup power needs across multiple markets. The initial target market for this product is the demanding telecommunications industry.

October 17, 2001 Detroit -- General Motors Corp. will get a stake of as much as 28 percent in Hydrogenics Corp. as part of an alliance with the fuel-cell company to develop the low-pollution technology to power cars and trucks.
