Ceramic Fuel Cells, Ltd.
Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited ("CFCL") is a developer of energy generation products based on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell ("SOFC") technology. CFCL is currently working towards the launch of its market entry product, a 40kW power generation unit. CFCL was originally established in 1992 as a research consortium, and was reconstituted for commercialisation in 1999. To date the company has been primarily funded by a range of Australian and New Zealand based energy companies and government agencies. Today, CFCL is an Australian public unlisted company with twelve shareholders. CFCL also gratefully acknowledges the funding support of the Australian federal government through its R&D Start program. CFCL employs over 140 staff
with diversity of disciplines and expertise and depth of experience to
meet the needs of the development of an integrated SOFC product. CFCL
has over 8,000 square metres of facilities in Melbourne and is acknowledged
globally as a leading developer of flat-plate solid oxide fuel cell and
stack technology.
Market Entry Product CFCL's first product will be
a natural gas fueled 40kW fuel cell aimed at small to mid-sized industrial
and commercial customers. Initial units are expected in 2003/04. The target
efficiency of the fuel cell system is 50%, along with very low air and
noise emissions. The operating characteristics of this product will be
suited to cogeneration, high power reliability and remote area power applications
to name a few.
