Emissions Control

Overview

The emissions that are produced from the various distributed generation equipment are described in detail in the sections under “Emissions” in the technology section. The focus of this section is on the various aftertreament technologies and systems for control of NOx, CO and VOC emissions from distributed generation units where required. Aftertreament control systems for natural gas reciprocating engines include

• Three-Way Catalysts, also known as non-selective catalytic reduction
• Selective Catalytic Reduction - SCR
• Oxidation Catalysts

Natural gas combustion turbines utilize:

• Selective Catalytic Reduction - SCR
• Oxidation Catalysts for aftertreament control
• SCONOX new emerging technology for aftertreatment control

Microturbines, due to their relatively small size and low operating temperatures, have not been required to add any post-combustion controls.
