| GTI
was created in April 2000, by the combination of Gas Research Institute (GRI)
and the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT). For decades, GRI and IGT were the major
research and technology development organizations for the U.S. natural gas industry
and its customers. (IGT was founded in 1941, GRI in 1976.)
The
staff of 275 at GTI's headquarters in Des Plaines, Illinois (a Chicago
suburb), includes engineers, researchers, program managers, and
business analysts. Other staff in the Washington, DC, area study
market and regulatory trends, evaluate policy issues affecting energy
markets, and interact with government agencies and other energy-related
organizations. GTI specialists in gas exploration and production
technology are based in Houston, Denver, and Calgary, Alberta, as
well as Des Plaines.
Gas
Technology Institute (GTI) is an independent, not-for-profit technology
